Dr Anthony Killick
Dr Anthony Killick is a Cultural Economy researcher and University Lecturer. As Director of the CEME Network, his latest work focuses on CCIs in the GCC-MENA region and knowledge exchange with CCI stakeholders in the EU. He has a particular interest in the growth and equitable development of the Saudi Arabian screen industries, and has been carrying out primary qualitative research with film workers in Saudi Arabia, focusing on development, mapping, labour and socio-cultural liberalisation in the context of rapid “post-oil” economic diversification.
Anthony’s previous research, comprising academic forms with creative professional practice, is widely published in journals and edited collections (see below). At intervals, he has held roles as an academic, filmmaker, film festival curator, and cinema developer.
Anthony has delivered presentations at a number of international conferences, including the ECREA European Communication Conference, NECS European Network for Cinema Studies, and recently at Media Industries 2024 at Kings College, London. He has also delivered talks at the Berlin International Film Festival and Leeds International Film Festival. Anthony has a PhD in Film Industries and Urban Development from Edge Hill University and a Masters degree in Film and Television Studies from the University of Bristol.
